Innovation Catalyst Global | FindHer
Innovation Catalyst (IC) Global is an integrated suite of platforms developed to catalyse innovation by facilitating capability discovery, problem solving and data visualisation. Built in collaboration with over 70 partners across industry, research and government, the platforms comprise:
- Expert Connect -a searchable database of research expertise, automatically compiled from authoritative public data sources
- Innovation Challenges marketplace – a central directory of challenge opportunities, which are automatically matched with relevant expertise in Expert Connect
- InnovationMap – a geospatial visualisation of Australia’s innovation activity
Over the development of the IC Global platform between 2017 and 2019, the team noticed just how many organisations where creating directories to promote female experts, requesting these women create and maintain a profile to assist in their discovery. In response to this, and having automated the process of creating and maintaining expert profiles for all Australian researchers in Expert Connect, the IC Global team leveraged their work to provide a filtered directory highlighting female experts.
Launched on International Women’s Day 2019, FindHer enables users to easily find female experts in any field of research, on the same platform where users are already looking for experts (rather than separating them out). By layering smart technology over the Expert Connect profiles, the solution has automatically identified over 5,000 women now included in the FindHer filter. This means women are not burdened with creating or maintaining a profile or adding themselves to the filter.
