In AI leadership and governance positions, the number of women in these roles drops lower than 1 in four women. We need organisations to support this, AWS have already sent their first 12 women to complete Module 1, 2, 3, we are now seeking more organisations and leaders to step forward. Use the places for your own emerging leaders, or open them to the TechDiversity community to nominate.

We’re seeking sponsors to fund 10 scholarship places for women leaders on the AI Governance Practitioners Programme, all three modules.

Why Now?

The Tech Reflects study shows an influence gap: women are underrepresented not just in technical AI roles, but in the rooms where decisions about AI are being made. Governance committees. Risk boards. Policy teams. The places where the rules get written.

AI is being built now. Governed now. If women aren’t in those rooms, the systems being deployed will reflect the perspectives of the people who are.

The Solution

The “Govern the Future” Scholarship Programme places women into the AI Governance Practitioners Programme, building their capability. The programme is built by Dr Kobi Leins, technical expert and support on ISO AI Standards development through Standards Australia, including ISO/IEC 42005/42001.

Let’s govern AI responsibly and ensuring diverse perspectives shape how AI is deployed.

This isn’t about training women to build AI. It’s about training women to govern it.

AI Governance for Women Scholarship Places

What Sponsors Receive

Recognition where it matters: Your organisation named as a “Govern the Future” sponsor across the programme: scholar welcome materials, Circle community platform, TechDiversity website, and end-of-programme communications. Named scholarships available
(e.g. “The [Your Organisation] Scholars”).

A seat at the table: Nominate candidates from your own network or workforce for scholarship consideration. Useful if you have women in adjacent roles, legal, risk, compliance, policy, who would benefit from formal AI governance training but sit outside your usual L&D budget.

Alignment with a measurable agenda: “Govern the Future” maps to multiple UN SDGs (5, 8, 10) and supports reporting against gender equity, responsible technology, and workforce development commitments.

Choose Scholarship Route

Sponsoring organisations fund 10 scholarship places and choose how to allocate them: to women within their own organisation, or opened to applicants from the TechDiversity community.
